We have big news to share as well this month: after more than 20 years, SELCO is upgrading our shared database (ILS). We are working hard to ensure patrons will experience minimal disruptions and can look forward to an improved user experience once all data is migrated. Here's how you can assist us on a smooth transition:
- Help the Library get our patron records updated as we prepare to upgrade to a new database (ILS). During the month of April (through Sunday, April 27th), library card replacements are free to patrons who come in to update their accounts. Northfield patrons may choose from 4 card designs, each featuring artwork by Minnesota artists: Rocky Casillas, John Maakestad, Paula Rojas, and Michael Sweere. The more accurate our records are before the upgrade, the better your user experience will be.
-
Patrons can also help us out as we complete the upgrade by holding onto their books between April 27th and May 1st. No checkouts will be due during that time (and we don't charge fines anyway!) so no need to return until after May 1st. Overdrive (Libby), Kanopy, Hoopla, and library computers will be available during the migration provided your account information is up to date. Guest passes are always available for library computers.
-
MNLINK will be temporarily suspended beginning on April 10th. We anticipate resuming MNLINK around May 5th or 6th
- No new materials will be catalogued between April 14th and May 1st. Patrons should expect delays on books released during that time.
- No requests can be placed and no items will be delivered between the evening of the 27th and the go live date of May 1st.
- If you use the "My Lists" feature on your current online library account, you will need to save those for future use. They will not be transferred to the new system.
- The library will be closed for training on April 28th and 29th. Please have your library card or card number handy if you plan to check out any physical items on April 30th.
- We "go live" with the new system on May 1st!
