Use the free Libby app and your library card number to check out ebooks and e-audiobooks for your phone or tablet. No need to "return" these; they automatically expire after three weeks. Find favorites like Phoebe and her Unicorn, Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Magic Tree House, Who Was?, and Pete the Cat, along with 1000s of others.
Ebooks Minnesota provides free access to all kinds of books published in our state, and it's especially great for kids. The ebooks are always available, and you don't even need to check them out. Try searching on topics like origami, dinosaurs, pets, climate change, football--you'll find lots of great stuff. Ebooks MN is especially useful if you're looking for a book on a particular topic at the physical library, but we don't have anything checked in on that topic: try Ebooks Minnesota; you'll likely find just what you need. Other searches to try: "Capstone" (a great Minnesota press for kids' books), "graphic novels".
TumbleBook Library offers a lot of things, but one of the most useful and popular is read-alongs. Read and listen to a book and see the words being spoken highlighted as you go. It includes read-alongs for everything from early readers to classics like Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. It also includes graphic novels (like Geronimo Stilton) and ebooks (like Kate DiCamillo's) to read online, picture books in English and Spanish, and sentence games for beginning readers. The content is always available--no checkout needed--and you don't need a library card to use it as long as you go through the library's website.
